I practice mindfulness by spinning.
When travelling in my campervan I don’t have enough space to carry my spinning supplies. To be able to keep spinning I made a small, light and portable spinner which is easy to use in a small space (inspiration taken from a paddle spinner). I named it the ‘The Mindful Spinner’. It can be used anywhere, spinning standing up, sitting down or even lying down if you wanted to!
I designed it to be small and light enough to be put in a pocket or small bag. 5 - 10 grams of fibre can be spun on it and it likes to spin fine yarn. It is made from 3 thin layers of wood glued together . It’s sold unfinished and can be customised by waxing, painting, adding stickers, decoupage, etc.
I love my little spinner, I find it so relaxing to use. I‘m able to make these spinners from my little craft room which means I can offer them up for sale so others can also enjoy the benefits they offer.
I hope you like them.

I personally find the repetitive motion of spinning the spinner very relaxing. I also find the feel of the fibre and the action of drafting the fibre soothing. The process of spinning does require some concentration and that coupled with the repetative spinning motion can become meditative, ideal for calming and focusing the brain.
Yes! It’s very light and easy to use. It’s an ideal spinner to introduce spinning to children. It can also double up as a fidget spinner.
Yes! It can be customised /decorated however you wish. You can add your own personal designs in a number of different ways, eg:
Waxed
Wood stain
Decoupage
Painting
Felt tips
Stickers
Once customised use clear varnish or something similar to seal the design and stop it smudging and transferring to your fibre.
The spinners and accessories can be purchased from my Mademe store (mademe.co.uk) CalmingJayCrafts
